Farmers in Cavan and Monaghan are being encouraged to challenge local election candidates

Farmers in Cavan and Monaghan are being encouraged to challenge local election candidates on rural crime policies.

The IFA is calling on members to challenge canvassers on the issues that affect farmers and farm families, with councillors invited to a meeting with the organisation next Thursday.

The country goes to the polls on May 24th, when people will be asked to select county councillors for the coming term.

Speaking to Northern Sound News, IFA Chairman in County Monaghan Frank Brady said the election is a good opportunity for people to have their voices heard.
