Farmers urged to protest against the closure of the District Veterinary Lab

Farmers in Cavan are being urged to protest today against the closure of the District Veterinary Laboratory in Sligo.

The RVL in Doonally is one of the six regional veterinary laboratories in the country, however three of these are now under threat of closure.

Farmers from across the North West region are being encouraged to demonstrate against the potential closure at a protest today outside the lab at 12.30.

Hugh Farrell is the Chairman of the Cavan branch of the ICSA.

He says if the lab in Sligo closes, farmers will have to travel to Athlone.
