Fianna Fail considering adding candidates to ticket in Carrickmacross-Castleblayney

Fianna Fail has held interviews to consider adding candidates to the ticket in south Monaghan. Last year, Padraig McNally made a shock announcement at the selection convention that he’d not seek a nomination in the Carrickmacross – Castleblayney area.

PJ O’Hanlon was the only candidate selected that night, in what was meant to see two names selected ahead of the local elections. However there was strong support for the party to run a three candidate ticket with Rory McEvoy in Carrickmacross and David Funcheon in Castleblayney.

Both had withdrawn their names from the convention but admitted they’d run if they received backing from the party. The party confirmed it has interviewed potential candidates and will announce a full ticket in the coming weeks.
