Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael accused of “sulking” by local TD

Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael have been accused of “sulking” by a local Sinn Féin TD.

Matt Carthy accused the parties of ignoring the mandate given to Sinn Féin to form a Government.

Discussions are ongoing between parties on forming a new Government but it remains to be seen if they will be successful.

Speaking on The Wider View today, Matt Carthy said Sinn Féin is “taking its job seriously”:

Micheál Martin will appoint Fianna Fáil’s negotiating team for government formation talks this evening.

His parliamentary party meets for the second time since the election and will get an update on the current state of play.

Fianna Fáil will also likely discuss the nominations for the role of Ceann Comhairle, with close of nominations at 6pm.
