Fianna Fail members are calling on the party to run two candidates in the Monaghan MD for the 2019 local elections. The party held a contested selection yesterday evening, with sitting councillor Raymond Aughey losing out to Emer Brennan.
However, members proposed a motion calling on the party to allow both candidates appear on the ticket next May, with the call being brought back to Fianna Fail HQ.
The party’s Ballybay-Clones convention is taking place this evening, with three nominees for a single selection. Last night, the two Monaghan nominees were in favour of amending the decision to allow both on the ballot.
