Fianna Fail to select first Monaghan candidates for local elections tonight

Fianna Fail will select the first of its Monaghan candidates for next year’s local election this evening.

Two candidates have been nominated to represent the party in the Monaghan Municipal District, sitting councillor Raymond Aughey and Emer Brennan. The election co-ordinator has confirmed the selection will be contested, meaning just one member will be selected to go on the ticket.

The Fianna Fail candidates for the Clones-Ballybay area will be decided tomorrow, with the south Monaghan members voting on their nominees next week.
