Final part of Monaghan’s “Holy Aviation Trilogy” to be excavated next month

The final part of the “Holy Aviation Trilogy” in Monaghan will be excavated next month.

The team behind the project were recently granted an excavation licence to search for parts of an American P38 fighter plane that crashed near Castleblayney in 1942. Last year, the remains of a Spitfire plane recovered from a crash site near Emyvale were put on display in Monaghan County Museum as part of the exhibition into the border region during the war.

Speaking to Northern Sound News, Project Organiser Johnny McNee how it will complete the story of the exhibition.
