Finance Minister says Government “fully supports” work of local Gardaí

The Finance Minister says the Government “fully supports” the work of Gardaí in this region.

It’s after Junior Minister Michael D’Arcy came in for criticism after he said Gardaí had been slow to tackle ongoing intimidation of Quinn Industrial Holdings Directors in Cavan and Fermanagh.

The comments led to a backlash locally, with the Chair of the Cavan Joint Policing Committee Councillor John Paul Feeley calling on him to apologise.

Local TD Brendan Smith criticised the Government and said a lack of resources was to blame.

Finance Minister Pascal Donohue praised the QIH Directors for speaking out about the abuse they’ve faced.
