The first independent candidate has announced their intention to run in Cavan-Monaghan at the next election.
Killinkere based Jonathan Rainey is a former Fine Gael Councillor in Dublin.
He announced his candidacy yesterday pledging to run a “carbon neutral campaign focused on listening to the concerns and issues affecting constituents”.
Originally from County Antrim, the 44 year old has been living in Cavan for 15 years.
He joins a list of 11 other candidates running for five seats in the Cavan-Monaghan constituency at the next election.
