The judges in the Foodie Destinations competition are visiting Monaghan this morning.
The competition celebrates the food offerings in towns and cities across the island with the county being shortlisted for the 3rd year in a row.
The Restaurants Association of Ireland judges will visit one of Monaghans newest attractions in Rossmore Forest Park followed by a Giant Breakfast and a Food Showcase highlighting produce grown and developed in county.
This year, Cavan, Monaghan and Glaslough are nominated, with the public vote now underway.
Monaghan has been nominated twice previously, with this the first year Cavan’s made the shortlist.
Meanwhile, judges will arrive in County Cavan next Wednesday and Thursday
Public voting makes up half of each nominations votes, with the Judges marks making up the other half.
It’s hoped the region can build on its reputation of well-known and celebrated food and drink producers, as well as growing successful events in the Northern Sound Region like the Taste of Cavan and the Taste of Monaghan.
