Four local companies convicted under Employment Permit Acts

Four local companies had convictions against them last year, according to the Workplace Relations Commission’s annual report. It shows the four Chinese restaurants, one in Monaghan and three in Cavan, were all convicted under the Employment Permits Acts 2003 and 2006. The Workplace Relations Commission report shows the four local businesses received convictions last year.

These include Ms Lan Wang, trading as Chinatown Takeaway on Hall Street in Ballybay – the only business in Monaghan to feature on the list. Meanwhile in Cavan, Peking Inn Limited, trading as Peking Inn Kingscourt on Funa Rua in the town features. Linkat Ltd, trading as Peking on Main Street in Virginia and Ming Jin Yu, trading as Peking Inn Limited of Main Street Kingscourt and Main Street Bailieborough also received convictions.

All four companies were convicted under the Employment Permits Acts of 2003 and 2006. The report shows the WRC recovered over €3 million in unpaid wages in 2018, with it seeing its busiest year ever.
