Fr Michael Router will be ordained as Auxiliary Bishop of Armagh today

Fr Michael Router will today be ordained as Auxiliary Bishop of Armagh.

It was announced in May that he would be appointed to the post by Pope Francis.

Fr Router was Parish Priest in Bailieborough until today’s ordination.

Originally from Maghera near Virginia, Fr Router was ordained to the priesthood in 1989.

He’s served in a number of parishes across the region before being appointed Parish Priest in Bailieborough in 2014.

Archbishop of Armagh Eamon Martin, Papal Nuncio Archbishop Okolo and former Bishop of Kilmore Leo O’Reilly will officiate at today’s ceremony.

The ordination will take place in Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in Armagh at 3 o’clock.

It’ll be attended by Fr Router’s parents Anthony and Nora, as well as other family members.

Kilmore Diocesan Administration Monsignor Liam Kelly will also attend along with other Bishops and Priests from across the country.
