The resumption of inter county training is set to be delayed until the end of the month at the earliest because of the COVID 19 crisis.

Any delay would not necessarily require a shift in the calendar which will see the National Leagues resume at the end of February and the All Ireland Championship finals take place in July.

The GAA released details of a regionalized league competition before Christmas, with the first of those fixtures due to throw in on February 27th.

The current restrictions have also seen the Minor football championship been put on hold again.

Connacht and Munster did get their competitions finished prior to Christmas with Roscommon and Kerry prevailing. In Leinster, Offaly and Meath are scheduled to meet in the decider while it was down to the last 4 in Ulster with Monaghan, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry still remaining.

Monaghan manager Mark Counihan remarked recently to the sports desk, that aside from been unable to play football, it should be noted the difficult times that young people are experiencing at the moment
