Gaelic Games is set to return to competitive action in mid-July after a fast tracking of the government’s roadmap to recovery.

Earlier this month Croke Park announced that a return to training can take place from July 20 with competitive action allowed from July 31st.

An Taoiseach Leo Vardarkar announced a return to all sport from June 29th as part of phase three of the governments roadmap with the GAA telling Northern Sound Sport they will now review the new dates.

“The GAA will review over the weekend its plans for a return to activity following today’s government announcement” said the GAA in a statement to Northern Sound Sport.

“It is expected that the GAA’s Advisory Committee will be able to advance its plans for a return to activity and various options will be considered at its next meeting, after which an update will be provided.”

“The GAA would also like place on record its gratitude to the Government for the support package announced this evening.”

The government this evening announced a package of €40m for Covid-19 supports to be shared between the GAA, IRFU and FAI.

“This funding will greatly assist our units in the weeks and months ahead as they prepare for a return to activity” said the GAA’s statement.
