The inter-county GAA competitions are set to continue as planned this weekend

The association has come in for a lot of criticism, for the return of the inter-county season which got underway last weekend and continues this Saturday and Sunday with the final round of fixtures in the Allianz national football league as well as the commencement of the Senior Hurling championship.

Dick Clerkin is chairman of the Croke Park Medical - Scientific & Welfare committee and has also sits on the Covid Advisory group and he noted that while after match celebrations in club games had been attributed to the spread of the Coronavirus, there was a low risk from the action on the field

Meanwhile it is been reported that Longford are in talks with Croke Park at the moment in regards to whether or not their final league fixture with Cork will go ahead.

Padraic Davies sides loss to Derry, more or less ended their hopes of promotion from Division 3, while Cork have already claimed top spot and promotion by been unbeaten.

The Longford manager has questioned the need to play the fixture, which has been termed a "Dead Rubber".

A decision on whither the game will proceed is expected this afternoon (Tues 20th).
