Gardaí have renewed their appeal for information on a fatal hit and run in Monaghan nine years ago.

20-year-old Fintan Traynor died after he was hit by a car near Clontibret on this day in 2011.

This is the latest Garda appeal for information in this case.

Fintan Traynor was killed while walking home from a night out in Castleblayney in the early hours of Sunday, June 26th, 2011.

The driver of the car involved fled the scene.

Gardaí believe that an old model Audi A4 – circa 1995 to 2001 model – was the type of car which was involved in the collision.

The front lower portion of the air vent grille of a car matching this description was found at the scene.

An Garda Síochána is appealing to the public for further assistance in identifying the car and driver involved in this incident.

Crimestoppers has also provided a reward for information in this regard which leads to the recovery of the vehicle and identification and prosecution of the driver.
