Gardaí warn local residents to remain vigilant after reports of bogus callers

Local Gardaí have issued a warning about the risks of bogus callers.

In the past number of days, they have received two reports of bogus callers, both of which used different methods.

In one case, a male was able to enter the home of an elderly man after claiming to be a relative of his home support worker.

In the second instance, a local resident received a phone call purporting to be from an internet service provider. The caller knew the first name of the local resident and phoned from a Dublin number.

Gardaí are appealing for the public to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activity to local Garda Stations.

They are also advising the public to refrain from giving out personal information over the phone and to deny access to strangers who try to enter their homes.
