Seamus Mc Enaney has added further strength to his managerial backroom team with former Dundalk goalkeeper Gary Rogers coming in as goalkeeping coach.

Rogers recently retired from the league of Ireland having been at Dundalk for the last 5 years, where he made 583 appearances.

Hailing from Navan in County Meath, some thought he might join up with his native county to ease a goalkeeping crisis in the Royal panel, which has seen current manager Andy Mc Entee use 11 different goalkeepers in 4 years.

However taking the role with Monaghan will have ended any thoughts of a possible inter-county career even at the age of 39.

Interestingly, he will take over from Steve Williams who was his coach at Dundalk, but who has now taken up a role with Micky Harte's backroom team at Louth.

It also marks a 3rd major change in the Monaghan management team with Donie Buckley and Jonny Davis having been announced prior to Christmas, replacing Tony Donnelly and Conor Laverty, who both took up positions within their won counties.
