Figures revealed one in four children are overweight and one in five of us will experience mental health problems in our lifetime. The CHO 1 Healthy Ireland Implementation Plan aims to introduce measures to help reduce tobacco use and alcohol consumption and to improve physical activity and mental health for residents of Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan and Sligo.
The population live mainly in rural areas with a low population density and island communities. Unemployment rates are the highest in the country and there are large areas of deprivation and low rates of third level education. Cara O Neill, CHO 1 Head of Health and Wellbeing these actions will help communities, and especially our young people will thrive and where people will have better health and more confidence to live healthier lives.
