‘High speed limits near schools are putting our children at risk’

‘Children are being put at risk every day due to high speed limits near local schools’.

That’s according to Fianna Fail Deputy Niamh Smyth who says that vehicles are legally allowed to travel at up to 80kmph beside Killinkere National School in Cavan.

Deputy Smyth says that traffic calming measures can’t be put in place while the speed limit is so high, and so is asking Cavan County Council to introduce a bye-law in relation to speed limits on these roads.

Speaking to Northern Sound news, she says that while this will be a lot of paperwork for the council, all other options have been exhausted and parents are getting more and more frustrated.
