House prices in Monaghan and Cavan continue to go down

Monaghan is the most expensive county in which to a buy house in the Northern Sound Region for the third quarter of 2019.

A report released by Daft.ie today revealed that the average asking price in the county was €171,410 – that’s almost €18,000 more than in Donegal and Cavan.

Despite this, the price of housing in Monaghan is down 5.4% compared with the second quarter of this year.

In Cavan, the average asking price is down 3.1% for the third quarter to €153,429.

Overall the price of housing has barely risen with the national average just 0.1% higher for this period than last year.

Author of the report, Ronan Lyons says that the findings shows an end to a six year rise of house prices.
