HSE should focus on paying staff and not changing name of Drogheda Hospital – local Mayor

The Mayor of Drogheda says the HSE should focus on paying its staff better, rather than changing the name of the town’s hospital.

Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital was bought by the HSE in the 1990s and it’s proposed three new names for the facility – Drogheda University Hospital, Drogheda Regional Hospital or Drogheda General Hospital.

It says the proposal is part of plans to move the countries hospitals to an academic model, like has already happened at Letterkenny and Roscommon. Hundreds attended a protest in Drogheda at the weekend. They called for no changes to the facilities name. Mayor of Drogheda Councillor Frank Godfrey says the HSE should have other priorities:
