HSE offering help to smokers who want to kick the habit

Smokers in Cavan and Monaghan are being urged to kick the habit for 2017.

The HSE’s ‘Quit’ programme provides support and advice for people who want to stop smoking.

So far in 2017, over 3,000 people have signed up to the QUIT programme, and the HSE says getting support makes people twice as likely to succeed.

The HSE Cessation Officer in Cavan and Monaghan, Paula Campbell says while there are long term health benefits to stopping smoking, there are more immediate benefits as well.

There’s loads of help at www.quit.ie, from personalised plans to inspiration to live chats.

If you want to talk to an advisor about quitting or to find out about your nearest HSE stop smoking service, call the HSE QUIT Team on 1800 201 203 or FREETEXT QUIT to 50100.
