HSE waiting for approval for replacement respite service

There’s still no timeline for the provision of respite services after the closure of the Annalee Respite Centre in Cootehill.

Ongoing issues with the building used by the service have seen it closed since January.

The HSE has confirmed that “extensive remedial works are required to the internal and external areas of the facility”.

It says a definitive completion date for the works can’t be given.

It follows separate issues with the provision of respite at the centre, which meant a full service hasn’t been offered since last August.

The HSE has confirmed an alternative building has been identified to provide respite services but it’s awaiting approval from HIQA, which is expected in the coming weeks.

It says in the meantime alternative respite services and home supports are being offered to families affected.
