Stormy conditions didn’t stop Evin Hughes and Pakie Duffy storming to the top in the Midlands Motorclub night navigation trial on Saturday night.
A counting round of the Squealing Pig Border championship the former National navigation champions finished on 11 marks well ahead of Conor Boylan and Derek Mackeral who were on 85 with Conor Mohan and Mickey Carbin compelting the top 3 a further 17 penalties down, a result that give them the semi expert class win.
A tricky approach to Tp6 which seen all but one of the crews end up at Tp10 give rise to a high penalty account with a number of time points been missed totally.
With the majority of the crews caught up by a well constructed map reading trick, the competition was tighter in the classes with Sean Marron and Aidan Keenan taking the novice class and Ryan Farrell with Damien Hagan in the driver seat topping the beginners.
The next round of the championship is scheduled to be hosted by the Cavan Motor club at the end of the month.
