Bernard Johnston passed away on Monday March 16th 2026, peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his parents John and Margaret (Peggy), his brother Sean and his sister Anne.

Sadly missed by his heartbroken wife and best friend Pauline, his son Sean (Aileen), his daughter Louise (Colm), his adored grandchildren; Ayla, Aria, Alysa, Rafa, Grace and Rosie, his siblings; Liz, Margaret (Jonty), Cathal (Bridget) and Davy (Irene), nephews, nieces, all his extended family, good neighbours and many friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at the Mc Mahon Funeral Home, Farnham Rd, Cavan (H12C821) on Wednesday evening from 5pm until 8pm.

Bernard's remains will leave his home in Kilnavara on Thursday morning at 11.30am and will travel to the Cathedral of S.s Patrick and Felim, Cavan, arriving for a Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Following Mass the cortege will travel to St. Brigid's Cemetery, Killygarry for committal prayers and burial. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu to the Palliative Care Unit at Cavan General Hospital via donation box in the Funeral Home. I worked in Elm house for a few years when Bernard was doing security I really enjoyed having a chat with him when he was there, he was a really nice man I was very sorry to hear of his passing. RIP.
