Urgent calls to implement new Monaghan community safety structure. A local councillor is "confident" that the new community safety partnership structure across Monaghan; will be in place in a number of months.
This will provide a forum were community groups; volunteers; local councillors; and Gardai can meet. Indeed, they can discuss issues impacting people's lives on a daily basis.
The structure is designed to replace the Joint Policing Committees (JPCs). The JPCs were brought to a halt over a year ago.
Cllr Alan Johnson expressed his disappointment that the JPCs had not yet been set up to deal with the likes of anti-social behaviour; and other issues arising across the county.
As a result, Cllr Johnston called on the local authority to expedite putting in place of the new structure. Cllr Johnston says the new structure is of "huge benefit" to the people of Co Monaghan.
