A man aged in his 50s is set to appear in court later this morning following the discovery of €5.25M worth of cocaine in Monaghan on Friday.
He was charged last night after being arrested on Friday and will appear before a sitting of Monaghan District Court at 10:30am.
The woman who was arrested has been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the DPP.
As part of ongoing investigations targeting organised crime under Operation Tara, personnel attached to the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau supported by the Dublin Crime Response Team conducted an intervention of a number of vehicles and searched a business premise in Co. Monaghan on Friday.
During the course of that operation, Gardaí seized suspected cocaine with an estimated value of €5.25 million.
This operation was supported by the Custom Revenue Service, local Units in Monaghan and international partners from the Belgian Federal Maritime Police.
