There has been a 65% increase in people registering for Electonic Vehicles (EV) in Co. Monaghan between January 2025 and 2026.
That's according to the Minsiter for Transport, Darragh O'Brien.
Speaking in the Dáil this week, Minister O'Brien explained that over €120 million has been allocated in 2026 to support the transition to EVs.
Figures released by the Minister through a parliamentary question show the EV grants drawn down since 2021.
In Co. Cavan, 114 grants were drawn down in 2021, and has increased to 150 in 2025.
There was a slight slump, to 85, in 2024, however there has been 34 drawn down to date (25th Feb) in 2026.
Meanwhile, in Co. Monaghan, there was 68 grants drawn to in 2021. This also gradually increased to 123 last year.
However, figures for 2024 show that only 53 grants for EV's were drawn down.
To date in 2026, there has been 15 grants drawn down in Co. Monaghan.
