A local TD says that people cannot wait any longer for support amid ongoing fuel price hikes.
Cathy Bennett was speaking as Sinn Fein proposed legislation this week to reduce the taxes on petrol, diesel, oil, fertiliser.
The Government 's response is expected to be finalised at the next cabinet meeting which is taking place on Tuesday.
However, Deputy Bennett believes it is not coming quick enough, and people cannot wait any longer.
She said that Sinn Fein are putting pressure on the Government to scrap the Carbon Tax, end price gouging and deliver acceptable prices.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, Deputy Bennett said people are at their wits end: "We have said from the outset that Fine Gael and Fianna Fail have been doing absolutely nothing to help the people.
"People can't wait any longer, especially those who can't heat their homes or drive to work and that includes everyone right across the board like emergency services, the haulage sector and farmers."
