A weather expert is warning five centimetres of snow could be a possibility in the Northern Sound region over the coming days.
Cavan and Monaghan are currently under a snow and ice warning, along with Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo.
Cavan County Council has issued a statement, saying salting crews are mobilised and treating priority routes.
However it is warning that salting is not a guarantee "normal speed" can be achieved and caution should be exercised at all times.
It is expected this warning will stay in place until Midday Thursday.
Speaking on the JF show this morning, Cathal Nolan says a dusting of snow is expected in some places.
