Between 2022 and the end of 2025, there has been 161 affordable housing supports delivered in Co. Cavan, and 192 in Co. Monaghan.
That’s according to figures released by the Minister for Housing last week.
He explained that affordability and the chance to own a home is at the heart of the Government’s housing policy.
Responding to a parliamentary question, Minister James Browne explained that for new build homes, there are 12 starter purchase homes in the pipeline for delivery in Cavan in late 2026/early 2027.
Meanwhile, 10 Part V starter purchase homes are nearing completion in Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, which is currently open for applications.
From 2020 to 2025, Cavan County Council delivered 526 new social homes.
Of this figure 391 were new build homes, 71 were acquisitions and 64 were delivered under leasing programmes.
Monaghan County Council delivered 661 new social homes between 2020 and 2025 – 514 new build homes, 107 acquisitions and 40 homes delivered under leasing programmes.
