Appeal for witnesses in Monaghan patrol car ramming

Appeal for witnesses following Monaghan patrol car ramming incident.
Gardai are continuing to investigate all the circumstances surrounding a series of violent incidents towards Gardai which occurred in Co Monaghan yesterday.

Gardai say the search for the driver of the car that rammed a garda patrol car in Co Monaghan has been stood down, but they are following a definite line of inquiry.

A man aged in his 20s arrested, remains detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in Co. Monaghan.

Both Gardaí in the rammed and severely damaged patrol car, a male and a female, remain in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda.

The investigation into the incident is being coordinated from an incident room at Monaghan Garda Station under the direction of a senior investigating officer.

Anyone with any information or sighting of a dark grey Audi A6, baring northern registration plates in the general vicinity of the R184 between Ballybay and Clontibret or surrounding roads, or any driver in that area between the hours of 11am and 2pm with any dash cam or other video footage is being asked to contact investigating Gardaí.
