There are fears as many as 215 jobs could be lost in Cavan after the recycling company Wellman announced that it is putting its operation into examinership.
Unions representing workers at the Mullagh plant are calling on the government to intervene to find an alternative owner.
The recycling company has been an employer in the region, for more than over 50 years
Wellman says the business has suffered losses in the double-digit millions in 2023 and 2024, resulting from increased energy prices.
