Bailieborough councillor urges people to report acts of vandalism after bench set alight in the town

A bench at the entrance to St Anne's National School was set on fire last week.

A Bailieborough councillor has urged people to report any acts of vandalism after a bench was set alight in the town.

In the early hours of Friday morning, a bench at the entrance to St Anne's National School was set on fire.

Cllr Paddy McDonald called it a "pure act of vandalism" and said aerosol cans were found at the bench.

The Bailieborough councillor says "vandals have been causing a lot of problems around the town in the past couple of weeks".

He's appealed for public amenities in the town to be respected and told Northern Sound that plans are in place for the bench to be replaced in the coming weeks:
