A group of students in a local school are experiencing success in the Irish Angus Schools competition.

The TY students who attend Bailieborough Community School are aiming to challenge stereotypes and assumptions when it comes to women in the agri-industry.

They explained the project started as they went to their local mart in Kingscourt and interviewed some of the farmers about their opinions, they then produced a video on promoting gender balance in the industry.

From their research the girls said that just over 13% of registered farm owners in the Cavan-Monaghan region are women.

Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, the team explained some of the responses to their questions.
