A Co Cavan business which is currently showcasing some of its products across ALDI stores nationwide has praised Cavan's Local Enterprise office and has encouraged other innovators to get involved.
Mushrooms & Love based in Ballyconnell is among nine businesses from across Ireland who have been selected to showcase 18 new products in ALDI stores nationwide.
The family-run business based in Ballyconnell creates innovative mushroom-based snacks.
The business was inspired during the Covid-19 pandemic when Richard Sophy started to grow his own mushrooms.
As part of this year’s Grow with ALDI programme, Mushrooms & Love will now see their products available in all 167 ALDI stores.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Richard said the family business what not be where it is today only for the support it received from the local enterprise office.
Richard said Cavan LEO provides great mechanisms for small producers like themselves to get access to what some of the bigger producers already know about.
He told Northern Sound: "The local enterprise office have been absolutely fantastic in providing us not only with support mechanisms through making us aware of grants that we are eligible for but also in terms of directing us when we've needed someone to bounce ideas off or get guidance from.
"Cavan LEO have also been great when it comes to introducing us to other people in the community or further afield across the North and South of Ireland, and how to go about engaging with customers and what to expect.
"The thing with local enterprise offices is all you have to do is pick up the phone and you will always receive help. It's a really great mechanism for small producers like us to get access to what some of the bigger producers already know."
