A Ballyconnelll beef farmer with the inside track on the most up-to-date prices is reiterating the IFA's advice for farmers to "hold tight" when selling to factories. For weeks now, he has been keeping a close eye on the beef trade at marts, prices paid by factories and processors and the prices paid for exports.
This morning, the IFA issued advice for beef farmers to shop around when it comes to selling their animals. Demand for beef is extremely strong in all our key markets, the IFA said. Beef prices in the UK rose a further almost 7p per kilo in the past week bringing the R4L steer price to the equivalent of €8.64 per kilo.
