Ballyconnell woman says basic skills and traditions are 'dying out'

Cathriona McKiernan has a passion for home grown food and fresh produce, which she has passed on to her children.

"It's important that simple life skills are passed on through generations," that's according to the Irish Countrywomen's Association (ICA).

The ICA is encouraging people to pick up the old ways of parents and grandparents in order to live more sustainably.

As a result, the organisation has added new courses to their adult education college to teach families the basics of cooking and nutrition.

The Ballyconnell woman believes making "small efforts" to suit your lifestyle, will help households live in a more sustainable manner and reduce waste.
