A local livestock mart operator says it's great to see cattle prices so strong during 2025.
Steven Drury, managing director of Cootehill Livestock Mart, says the market for livestock has been strong.
He says suckler farmers are finally being rewarded for all their work that goes into rearing stock.
Steven says there are challenges like blue tongue disease but he doesn't see any big changes in demand for cattle in 2026.
He said he can see prices continue to rise during the first few months of 2026.
Cootehill Mart celebrated 60 years in business in recent weeks.
Steven looks ahead to what the year ahead may have in store for beef prices.
