Book of Condolence opens in Monaghan for Garda Flatley

Taoiseach Micheál Martin says it's time for the nation to reflect on road safety.

A book of condolence has been opened at Monaghan Garda Station in memory of Garda Kevin Flatley. Father of two Kevin Flatley - from Balbriggan in Dublin, is the 90th member of Gardai killed in the line of duty.

He was struck by a motorcycle while manning a speed checkpoint between Swords and Balbriggan. The motorcyclist, aged in his 30s, remains in serious condition in Beaumont Hospital.
