A 35-year-old man has been sent forward to Monaghan Circuit Court in relation to dangerous driving causing the death of another man.
Andrew Wright with an address at Enniscrone Park, Portadown, Co Armagh appeared at Monaghan District Court before Judge Stephanie Coggins in relation to the one charge.
It’s alleged that on the 6th of November 2023, at Dawson Grove, Demesne, Rockcorry, Co Monaghan, Mr Wright drove an articulated lorry in a manner that was a danger to the public, which caused the death of Evaldas Starkauskas.
The 35-year-old lorry driver was sent forward for trial after the Court presenter, Sergeant Lisa McEntee applied to Judge Coggins for the case to be heard at the next sitting of the circuit court.
Mr Starkauskas, a Lithuanian native had been living near Darkley, in Shercock, Co Cavan for a number of years.
The 45-year-old father had been an oil truck driver with Roe Oils Ltd which is also based in Shercock.
The crash that involved two lorries occurred shortly before 4pm on Monday the 6th of November 2023 on the R188 between Cootehill and Rockcorry.
Mr Starkauskas who was the driver of one of the lorries involved, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The book of evidence was served on Andrew Wright yesterday by Garda David Hoey.
One senior council and a solicitor was granted to Mr Wright under free legal aid.
Judge Coggins remanded the accused on continuing bail to appear at Monaghan Circuit Court on the 7th of October next.
