A Monaghan councillor believes people who were without power for almost 2 weeks during Storm Éowyn should be reimbursed.
At last month's Monaghan County Council meeting, it was revealed that €1.14 million in damage was caused by the once-in-a-generation storm in the county. 66 per cent of homes and businesses in Monaghan were without power at some point during the storm, and approximately 500 fallen trees were removed from roads by the council.
Councillor Séamus Coyle is calling for the ESB to provide goodwill payments to those who lost power for multiple weeks. He also says that lessons must be learned from this storm (listen below):
