Calls for OPW advancement of Monaghan flood scheme

Monaghan falls into the Tranche 2 category, and will not be undertaken until the first tranche is completed.

The Office of Public Works has a flood relief scheme planned for Monaghan Town.
That’s according to Jim Casey, head of flood risk management at the OPW.

However, Monaghan falls into the Tranche 2 category, and will not be undertaken until the first tranche is completed.
Local TD, Cathy Bennett, asked the OPW to “consider” moving Monaghan “up the list.”

Speaking in the committee, Deputy Bennett said she looked at the list, and claimed that a “lot of money has been spent down south.”
She said that “Monaghan seems to have been forgotten about.”
