An agreement has been reached by Monaghan County Council and Swim Ireland to keep Carrickmacross pop up pool until the end of this year.
The temporary amenity has been in place in the town since September of last year.
The pool is located just 400m off the Oriel Road in Carrickmacross, adjacent to the Carrick Aces Athletic Club. The Pool that comes to the People" is 12m by 3.4m with the water heated to 30 degrees and housed in a hard-sided marquee.
This accessible pool is the ideal place to learn to swim and according to local councillor Colm Carthy, hundreds of locals have already got great use out of this facility. Cllr Carthy says this helps in the overall goal to bring a permanent swimming pool to Carrick, a campaign that has been fought for many years.
