TD for this region, Matt Carthy has been one of the loudest voices in the Dáil chamber as TDs continue to thrash out the opposition speaking rights row. And, when he was asked about his party's stance on the issue, during a panel debate on the Joe Finnegan Show earlier, the Sinn Fein TD for Cavan-Monaghan showed no sign of backing down.
Overnight, the opposition parties of Sinn Féin, the Soc Dems, Labour and People Before Profit took the decision to withdraw from Dáil paired voting arrangements.
