The Cathaoirleach of the Ballybay-Clones Municipal District, Cllr Sinéad Flynn, has called for the resignation of Larry Murrin from his role as Chair of Bord Bia.
Cllr Flynn said there are clear double standards at play, noting that Irish farmers are held to some of the highest standards in the world through rigorous Bord Bia inspections designed to protect the integrity and international reputation of Irish produce.
She stated that the position of the Bord Bia Chair is now untenable and that farmers deserve leadership that consistently stands behind them.

The proposal, which was seconded by her Sinn Féin colleague Cllr Pat Treanor, was passed recently by the Municipal District.
