The Northern Sound region remains under a status yellow snow ice warning this morning.
The warning came into effect yesterday and is expected to last until 11am this morning.
Roads in many parts of the country are treacherous this morning after temperatures dipped to as low as minus 6 degrees in some places.
Met Éireann is warning that many counties will be affected by frost, ice and freezing fog patches this morning.
Parts of the north and west were hit with snow showers with accumulations in some areas.
A Status Yellow Snow-Ice warning is in effect for Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Connacht and Louth and Met Éireann has said that other counties could receive some wintry showers.
The warning is valid until 11 this morning.
