People across the Northern Sound region are being urged to exercise caution as weather warnings have been extended.
Cavan and Monaghan, along with Munster, Leinster, Galway, and Roscommon is currently under a Status Yellow Low Temperature and Ice Warning.
This replaced a previous snow/ice warning and is expected to remain in place until 9am tomorrow morning.
Met Eireann is warning people to expect sharp frost and icy stretches as well as black ice.
Treacherous travel conditions are also expected, motorists are being urged to take extra care, particularly on untreated roads and higher ground.
Conditions are expected to slowly improve from tomorrow as slightly less cold air moves in from the west.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan this morning, meteorologist Michelle Dillon explained how the warning in Cavan and Monaghan were changed.
"We've actually put out further yellow warnings for the entire country until nine o'clock tomorrow morning. So mostly for lower temperatures and ice, for the current conditions and then for more frosty icy conditions into tonight and also we've also got snow ice warning then for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo. So we've taken Cavan and Monaghan out of the snow warning after 11am but put it into the lower temperature and ice warning. So treacherous conditions, so some back roads, rural roads, higher ground, it's going to remain icy on those kind of roads."
