A local woman said it was a "privilege" to support the FTD brothers who ran a marathon in Co Cavan today.
Mildred Morton is from the Cavan branch of the Alzheimer's Society of Ireland.
Mildred described the two brothers as "extremely brave" and hopes that the money raised will go in the right direction towards important research to make a real difference in the future.
The Cavan branch of Alzheimer's Ireland is a committee that runs popular initiatives like the Forget Me Not café which is on the first Wednesday of every month and the Forget Me Not choir.
Mildred says things like this give family members a break and also gives those suffering with the condition an opportunity to get out and socialise with others which is extremely important.
The local woman said it's very tough for families and it's important to try and make a difference.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Mildred outlined a number of events that are taking place to raise awareness around Dementia right across Co Cavan.
The Alzheimer's annual tea day will take place tomorrow at the O'Sullivan Centre in Cavan from 1pm to 4pm.
